Where are you from and how does that affect your work?
I’m born and raised in Beloit Wisconsin and I try to make my writing reflect the things I’ve seen and been around.
Who are your biggest poetic influences?
Poetically I’m a huge Rudy Francisco fan as well as the Great Ones like Langston Hughes and Maya Angelou.
Tell me about your favorite medium (stage, book, club, etc.,).
I love writing books but my favorite way to express my art is through spoken word and being able to see the fans react to my words.
Where do you find inspiration?
I find inspiration in personal experiences.
When is your favorite time of day to create?
I create best in the evenings when it’s calm and quiet.
Describe how poetry is important to society.
I feel like poetry is very important and is the purest way of expression.
What motivates you to create?
I’m motivated by seeing poetry and spoken word become more popular with younger generations.
How do you define success as a poet? Success as a poet is when a stranger tells me they’re inspired by my words.
Does art help you in other areas of your life?
Poetry brings me balance and gives me an outlet to express my feelings and emotions in a healthy manner.
How do you develop your poetic skills?
Poetic skills are developed by constantly supporting the art and always writing.
